A Seoul court on Thursday sentenced former National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director Cho Tae-yong to 1 1/2 years in prison for committing perjury while testifying in a National Assembly hearing. The Seoul Central District Court handed down the sentence for Cho, who had been indicted on charges of perjury and other offenses, following his testimony at parliament that he had not received orders from former President Yoon Suk Yeol to arrest politicians during his failed martial law bid.
